SMUGGLING DUDS UFC 278 GAMBLING GUIDE

A rematch seven years in the making between two of the best welterweights in the world. Both have come so far but who walks away with the belt? Let’s go!

 UFC 278

Main Card (BT Sport)

Kamaru Usman (c) vs. Leon Edwards (Welterweight)

Whilst both fighters have improved massively since they first did the dance in 2015, but champions have to lose eventually, and there were glimpses in the Colvington fight that showed us all that Kamaru Usman is actually human. This will be a very cautious affair with neither wanting to engage so money on it going the distance is a definitely a good shout. It will be interesting to see the tactics and game plan of both for sure, and see if it possible for the champ to impose his will. How can you bet against one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet? Well, we just have. After many years in the shadows, this is Rocky’s time to shine.

WINNER: Edwards

METHOD: Decision

Paulo Costa vs. Luke Rockhold (Middleweight)

Former title holder Luke Rockhold is quickly becoming the David Brent of MMA with his philosophical outbursts and constant ranting towards his fellow fighters and employees. This one doesn’t end well for him and unless his opponent suffers some sort of freak accident during the fight, Rockhold wakes up to the ref waving this one off. Don’t be surprised if both fighters miss weight or one of them pulls out last minute.

WINNER: Costa

METHOD: KO/TKO

Jose Aldo vs. Merab Dvalishvili (Bantamweight)

It has been almost a year since the Georgian wrestling machine has stepped in to the Octagon and whilst we’ve seen a lot of people are saying former champ and future Hall of Famer, Aldo, can rewind the years and take out his opponent, we don’t see it happening.    As much as it pains us to say, this one contains a lot of time spent hugging on the floor and up against the cage. Saying this, please don’t forget to check out our Wild Card prediction at the bottom of the page!

WINNER: Dvalishvili

METHOD: Decision

Wu Yanan vs. Lucie Pudilova (Women’s Bantamweight)

Not sure if Wu Yanan is cut out for the big league and another loss will surely see her sent packing. Guess she better get her bags ready then. This women’s bout one is 100% going the distance as well.

WINNER: Pudilova

METHOD: Decision

Tyson Pedro vs. Harry Hunsucker (Light Heavyweight)

Yes you read correctly, we’ve gone with a big underdog here. Whilst the obvious outcome to most will be for Pedro to take his opponent down and submit as soon as physically possible, we think the big man from Kentucky with the fast hands will do the business at his new weight of 205lbs. In Hunsucker we believe!

WINNER: Hunsucker

METHOD: KO/TKO

Preliminary Card (BT Sport)

Marcin Tybura vs. Alexander Romanov (Heavyweight)

Romaov should come into this one in the best shape of his life, which can only add to the danger UFC veteran Tybura is about to face. Don’t be surprised if this one is over quickly.

WINNER: Romanov

METHOD: KO/TKO

Leonardo Santos vs. Jared Gordon (Lightweight)

As game as he is, this will be the end of the UFC line for the 42 year old Brazilian. Expect Gordon to push the pace until capitalizing on a tired Santos.

WINNER: Gordon

METHOD: KO/TKO

Sean Woodson vs. Luis Saldana (Featherweight)

Based on the fact Woodson’s reach is absolutely absurd and Saldana is yet to showcase anything that makes us believe he can win, this one is an easy pick.

WINNER: Woodson

METHOD: Decision

Miranda Maverick vs. Shanna Young (Women’s Flyweight)

Really tough one to call to definitely keep of your accumulator. It really could go either way (as can 75% of most women’s MMA bouts) but we’ll go with the slight favourite to grind out a decision.

WINNER: Maverick

METHOD: Decision

Early Prelims (UFC Fight Pass)

A.J. Fletcher vs. Ange Loosa (Welterweight)

Many sites will have Loosa to win this one but the DWCS standout needs to right the wrongs of his UFC debut in back in March so we shall be putting our faith in to ‘The Ghost’ to get his hand raised.

WINNER: Fletcher

METHOD: Submission

Amir Albazi vs. Francisco Figueiredo (Flyweight)

We are still not convinced with Figueiredo’s credibility and think the man who spends a lot of time honing skills in the UK to sneak in a sub!

WINNER: Albazi

METHOD: Submission

Aori Qileg vs. Jay Perrin (Bantamweight)

At this weight Qileg, and against this opponent many will expect Qileg to walk through his opponent but we’ve gone with a unanimous decision.

WINNER: Qileg

METHOD: Decision

UFC 278 WILDCARD BET: Jose Aldo to defeat Merab Dvalishvili via KO/TKO
