SMUGGLING DUDS UFC 287 GAMBLING GUIDE

Amazing card headlined by what we hope to be a fantastic main event, featuring a UFC middleweight rematch between arch nemesis Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya!

UFC 287

Main Card (BT Sport)

Alex Pereira (c) vs. Israel Adesanya (Middleweight)

Their first meeting in the octagon had everything – history, revenge, bad blood, trash talk (mainly from Adesanya as Pereira doesn’t say much) and then a very decent scrap. This one should play out the same, by this we mean on the feet, but fans will be keen to see what Adesanya can do differently this time. This will be the third time these amazing fighters have faced each other, and we guarantee it won’t be the last. Adesanya to get the late stoppage this time round.

WINNER: Adesanya

METHOD: KO/TKO

Gilbert Burns vs. Jorge Masvidal (Welterweight)

As this event is being held in Jorge Masvidal’s beloved home city of Miami, it’ll be a tough pill to swallow if he loses here. Not only that but a loss to ‘El Nino’ will take him to four straight losses. If he wins it’ll be by a close decision, but we just can’t see him winning unfortunately, meaning the fight we all want to see slips further away (Edwards vs. Masvidal of course!).

WINNER: Burns

METHOD: Submission

Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez (Bantamweight)

Font has been in the UFC since 2014 and is a solid company man, so hopefully the UFC give him one more crack of the whip, and not cut him, after he loses against Yanez.

WINNER: Yanez

METHOD: KO/TKO

Kevin Holland vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio (Welterweight)

May will be counting the Argentinian out, but we are not so sure. Holland got his wish in his last bout by not facing a grappler but ended up getting battered by Stephen Thompson. He’s up against another striker in Ponzinibbio who might just rattle his jaw again.

WINNER: Ponzinibbio

METHOD: KO/TKO

Raul Rosas Jr vs. Christian Rodriguez (Bantamweight)

Rodriquez is the real deal so we are excited to see how the youngest fighter on the UFC roster handles the heat! There will be a few picking his opponent, but we think the hype train keeps going.

WINNER: Rosas Jr

METHOD: Submission

Preliminary Card (BT Sport)

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Chris Curtis (Middleweight)

In previous guides we have totally underestimated Chris Curtis but have learned our lesson and won’t be doing it again!

WINNER: Curtis

METHOD: Decision

Michelle Waterson-Gomez vs. Luan Pinheiro (Women’s Straweight)

It is difficult to look past the experience of Waterson-Gomez but the question is following back-to-back losses how much gas is their left in the tank. The younger Brazilian native know a win over ‘The Karate Hottie’ will be huge for her and will do everything she can to scrape a decision. This one will go down to the wire so leave off the accumulator.

WINNER: Waterson-Gomez

METHOD: Decision

Gerald Meerschaert vs. Joe Pyfer (Middleweight)

The former DWCS star will be keen to get back in the mix and be looking to capitalise on a fantastic UFC debut last year against a legitimate name in Gerald Meerschaert.

WINNER: Pyfer

METHOD: KO/TKO

Karl Williams vs. Chase Sherman (Heavyweight)

The penny has-to-drop sooner or later for Sherman that he must finally start using his grappling when inside the Octagon. It probably won’t happen here but his willingness to slug it out as usual, should be enough to beat Williams.

WINNER: Sherman

METHOD: KO/TKO

Early Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)

Cynthia Calvillo vs. Lupita Godinez (Women’s Strawweight)

How on earth Calvillo is still in the UFC is beyond us but here she is, on the back of a four fight losing streak, being gifted a life line to remain within the UFC. We are no doubt going to regret this but based entirely on the fact she is fighting for her career we’ll pick her to win.

WINNER: Calvillo

METHOD: Submission

Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Trey Ogden (Catchweight 160lbs)

Bahamondes didn’t get off to the best start but has begun to flourish inside the Octagon more recently. Ogdnen is no push over but will struggle in this one.

WINNER: Bahamondes

METHOD: KO/TKO

ShayIlan Nuerdanbieke vs. Steve Garcia (Featherweight)

Whilst he might not be able to finish Garcia, the man they call ‘Wolverine’ should be able to get a decision victory and climb further up the ladder.

WINNER: Nuerdanbieke

METHOD: Decision

Jaqueline Amorim vs. Sam Hughes (Women’s Strawweight)

Hughes has struggled to get any significant momentum since joining the UFC and she’s up against a Legacy FC stand out making her debut in this one. Hughes should really win here. If she doesn’t then it is probably time to leave.

WINNER: Hughes

METHOD: Decision

UFC 287 WILD CAR BET: Christian Rodriquez to defeat Raul Rosas Jr via KO/TKO
