SMUGGLING DUDS UFC LONDON 2018 GAMBLING GUIDE
The worlds premier MMA organisation returns to the UK’s capital and we predict KNOCKOUTS!
Main Card (UFC Fight Pass)
Fabricio Werdum V Alexander Volkov (HW)
Don’t worry if you’ve bought a ticket for this event and think this is a poor main event, the undercard should produce some fireworks. This one probably won’t. Expect to see a cautious bout with the odd takedown attempt from the former champ, to finish the night off. Werdum has to take the fight to Volkov or else he’ll get picked off at distance. His best chance of winning is grabbing one of the long legs of Volkov working in a submission. We’ll go for the underdog.
WINNER: Volkov
METHOD: Decision
Jimi Manuwa Vs Jan Blachowicz (LHW)
A few sighs of disappointment were heard on the announcement of this one but what people must remember is that there are not many people who actually want to fight Jimi Manuwa, especially not in his home city. Blachowicz is as tough as they come and although Manuwa will be head hunting, don’t be surprised if this rematch goes the distance again. On the other hand...don’t be surprised if Manuwa blasts the Polish star out of the 02 Arena.
WINNER: Manuwa
METHOD: KO/TKO
Tom Duquesnoy Vs Terrion Ware (BW)
The only similarity between these two is that they’ve both been grappled to bits by Cody Stamann in previous outings. Duquesnoy will be on a mission to regain the spotlight here, could be the end of the UFC line for Terrion Ware.
WINNER: Dusqusnoy
METHOD: KO/TKO
Leon Edwards Vs Peter Sobotta (WW)
Sobotta shocked a few people in his last outing where he took out seasoned veteran Ben Saunders last May, proving he deserves to be in the UFC. Edwards will be looking to produce something special here and not just a points win. Especially in front of his home fans and the fact his brother is taking over the domestic scene.
WINNER: Edwards
METHOD: KO/TKO
Prelim Card (UFC Fight Pass)
John Philips Vs Charles Byrd (MW)
After numerous complications Wales will finally get to see another fighter step in to the Octagon. Anyone who has followed the career of ‘White Tyson’ Philips will know he hits like a freight train. His opponent (also making his first appearance as a UFC athlete) must try and get the Welshman’s back if he has any chance of winning here, but doing that is easier said than done. Philips takes this and could possibly get the winner of Marshman/Scott.
WINNER: Philips
METHOD: KO/TKO
Jack Marshman Vs Brad Scott (WW)
Another fighter gets a second shot at UFC glory as Brad Scott steps in as a relatively late opponent for fan favourite Jack Marshman. Marshman loves nothing more than a boxing match but Scott will be wise to this and should have enough in the tank to drag out a split decision.
WINNER: Scott
METHOD: Decision
Danny Henry Vs Hakeem Dawodu (FW)
‘Hot Chocolate’ has the upper hand when it comes to experience and should be able to produce the goods on home turf.
WINNER: Henry
METHOD: KO/TKO
Paul Craig Vs Magomed Ankalev (LHW)
Having suffered two knockouts in his last UFC appearances we worry Craig might be on his way back to the domestic scene after this one as his opponent just happens to know where the button is, and doesn’t mess about once the bell goes.
WINNER: Ankalev
METHOD: KO/TKO
Mark Godbeer Vs Dmitriy Sonsovskiy (HW)
American Top Team fighter Dmitriy Sonsovskiy makes his UFC debut on the back of a 10 fight win streak, with only two going the distance. The odds are stacked against the heavy hitting Brit here and we think the the Russian standout goes 11-0.
WINNER: Sonsovskiy
METHOD: KO/TKO
Nad Narimani Vs Nasrat Haqparast (LW)
In what would have been arguably an easier night at the office for Haqparast, he no longer faces Alex Reyes who only this week was replaced by Cage Warriors champ Nad Narimani. There is absolutely no doubt Narimani deserves this shot and we expect him to do whatever it takes to get an extion on his UFC contract.
WINNER: Narimani
METHOD: Decision
Kajan Johnson Vs Stevie Ray (LW)
The Scot celebrates his new UFC contract with a bout against GSP’s team mate Kajan Johnson, who seems to have found his way in the UFC. Not the easiest of scraps for Ray who will be looking to get back to winning ways.
WINNER: Johnson
METHOD: Decision
