BRIAN HOUSTON

Mixed Martial Artist

When and why did you start training for fighting? July 2009, in Omaha. I was playing indoor football here in Omaha for the Omaha Beef. I wanted an activity to keep myself in shape for the off-season. I always wanted to do it, so I just dove in head first and had a fight in the first two months of training. I won via TKO, so I figured I could at least compete. Like all things in life, I hit a crossroads between playing ball and continuing to compete in MMA. Life happened to push me in the direction of MMA. I just got tired of playing ball, to be honest, and I figured MMA was suitable substitute. After that, I saturated my life with as many forms of combat sports that I could. Now we’re here.

What ranks and titles have you held? Numerous High School Wrestling Tournament Titles and also was a member of The Georgia All State Team (10-2 national record), 2010 TBA World Muay Thai Champion (Cruiserweight), 2011 National Thai Boxing Champion (Cruiserweight), 2011 Regional Golden Gloves Champion(SHW), 2011 National Golden Gloves Bronze Medalist (Super Heavyweight Division), 2011 Ringside World Boxing Tournament Bronze Medalist, Local Grappling Tournaments No Gi Absolute Division Champion.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Now I’m finally able to compete at the highest level. I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that I’ve been given. My best is what you will get. That’s my only concern when I compete. When I do my best, everything else will fall in line. I just stay positive in my confidence to display fluid techniques.
