Curt Warburton most notable achievement in the domestic circuit is his win over the TUF 9 winner Ross ‘The Real Deal’ Pearson in September 2007, were he was victorious via TKO (doctor stoppage). Warburton would then go to 5-1-0 before taking on Tom Maguire 5-1-0 and it was Warburton who was victorious via unanimous decision to take him to 6-1-0. This win won him the Strike and Submit Lightweight title and was Warburton’s final fight before he was given a 3 fight contract in the UFC.
Warburton, along with his 2 Wolfslair team-mates Rob Broughton and Tom Blackledge joined the UFC. Shortly after joining the UFC, former opponent Ross Pearson gave Warburton a big endorsement of his skills, stating: “I expect big things from Curt, he’s a good guy, he’s a good friend now, even if we have had three wars together.”
Warburton made his UFC debut against UFC veteran, Spencer Fisher on 16 October 2010 at UFC 120. He lost the fight via unanimous decision. Warburton then faced Maciej Jewtuszko on 27 February 2011 at UFC 127. He handed Jewtuszko his first professional loss via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Warburton next faced Joe Lauzon on 26 June 2011 at UFC on Versus 4 He lost the fight via first round submission. Following the loss, Warburton was released from the UFC and would go onto fighting on domestic and European shows.
Warburton made his BAMMA debut against Tim Newman on 10 December 2011 at BAMMA 8. He won the fight via unanimous decision and has since went undefeated after being released by the UFC. With wins against Arthur Sowinski on KSW 18 in Poland in 3.03 of Rnd 2 via submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) he then defeated Declan Larkin on Total Combat 46 in 1:04 of Rnd 1 via submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) again. He then got a unanimous decision at BAMMA 10 against Lee Wieczorek to go 11-3-0 and set up a fight with the BAMMA World Champion Rob ‘C4′ Sinclair for the Lightweight belt in 2013. Having signed with Made4TheCage Fight Management we expect big things for Warburton with him knocking back on the door of the UFC very soon!!!!
